On average, cervical spinal cord injuries are the most debilitating. They can cause weakness in all four limbs, leading to quadriplegia or tetraplegia. The severity of a cervical spinal cord injury determines whether it is a full or incomplete damage. Half of all spinal column injuries each year are either fractures or dislocations in the cervical spine. The cervical spine is the most likely to be injured in a violent encounter due to its mobility.

There is currently no known method of treating or reversing the effects of a cervical spinal cord injury. It’s still possible to reclaim some of your lost abilities, though. Treatment options allow for significant improvement in function for many people with cervical spinal cord injuries.

Braces and gentle collars for the neck are among the options. Surgery. Compression of the spinal column can be caused by bone chips, foreign bodies, herniated disks, or broken vertebrae, all of which may necessitate surgical removal. In order to avoid further discomfort or deformity, spinal surgery may be required.
